Car Crashes into Bank Near South Hill Mall

Police and fire are on the scene of a car that crashed into the Harborstone Credit Union, located on the 3900 block of South Meridian.

UPDATE 5/6/13 4:15 p.m.

Puyallup Police have released this official narration of today's collision to local media:

Puyallup Police and Central Pierce Fire and Rescue units responded to a vehicle versus building collision at Harborstone Credit Union. The collision resulted in minor injuries to four individuals and significant property damage to the building and vehicle.

The investigation as to the cause of the collision is ongoing. 

On Monday, May 6th, 2013 at approximately 1:47 p.m., Puyallup Police and Central Pierce Fire and Rescue units were dispatched to a vehicle versus building collision at Harborstone Credit Union, 3921 South Meridian.

Puyallup Police and Central Pierce Fire and Rescue Units arrived to find a vehicle had driven through the side of the credit union near the drive through teller window.

The collision resulted minor injuries to the vehicle’s three occupants. Additionally, a credit union employee suffered minor injuries. All of those injured were treated at the scene and released. 

Aside from the injuries, the credit union sustained significant property damage. The structure has been inspected by the City of Puyallup Building Department and representatives from Harborstone Credit Union. Due to the damage, the credit union will be closed for the remainder of the day. 

Thus far, the investigation has revealed that prior to the collision, the driver of the vehicle had been conducting a transaction at the drive up window. At some point during the transaction the vehicle accelerated and drove through the side of the building. Units on scene are attempting to determine if the cause of the collision was related to driver inattention or mechanical failure.

Expect slow traffic on S Meridian in front of the credit union due to police & fire response at the scene.

A vehicle has crashed into the Harborstone Credit Union on South Meridian near the South Hill Mall, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue and Puyallup Police.
