Today, Oct. 16, Susan Powell would have turned 31 years old.
To honor her memory and help those suffering from domestic violence, musicians and songwriters created Susan's Song: A Dream Away. The ballad memorializes Susan, the Puyallup mother of two who disappeared two years ago from Utah, and her sons, 7-year-old Charlie and 5-year-old Braden, who were murdered by their father, Josh Powell, in a Graham house fire in February.
The song was written by Camilyn Morrison after the deaths of Charlie and Braden. It is performed by Jessie Funk and accompanied by musical director for Hales Center Theatre Kelly DeHaan, both in Utah.
"It is a beautiful song from the perspective of Susan and her boys, written as a message of love and hope that Braden and Charlie are safely back inside their mother's arms," says the YouTube description.
The song is available on Amazon and iTunes. All proceeds go to the Susan Charlie and Braden Memorial fund.
