From the Washington State Fair:
Walk through a sparkling world of lanterns at the Washington State Fair’s Luminasia exhibit. The tradition of Chinese lanterns traveled over 6000 miles from Zigong, China to be showcased at the Fair Sept. 6-22, as well as Sept. 27- Oct. 13, the weekends following the Fair.
This ancient craft has been transformed and modernized to dazzle its audience in this larger-than-life production. Artisans from China have been on the grounds in Puyallup since August 3 assembling this marvelous exhibit.
Over 23,000 state-of-the-art bulbs are used to illuminate this spectacle for viewing both day and night. The result is an East meets West fusion that’s sure to awe its audience. Wander through a lantern-lit farmer’s market and watch a shimmering ferry cross the Sound. This unique look at many Washington state sights is sure to entice the entire family.
