Puyallup Library to Host Mini Comic Con

Join the Puyallup Public Library for Mini Comic Con on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013.

Meet local comic artists and writers at the Library’s first mini-comic convention on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013. The library will host a variety of panels on comics and fan culture, as well as an artist’s alley and a gaming room. 

Try out a board game, check out art by local creators, make a craft, and learn about the art of writing and creating comics.

We will hold four panels throughout the day:

Help! My Kid is a Fan!

10:30 - 11:30 am

Are you friends with a brony? Has your kid started sporting a bow tie & talking about sonic screwdrivers? And what’s cosplay? Join our panel of experts as they introduce you to the wonderful world of fans. Learn about Adventure Time, Doctor Who, HomeStuck, My Little Pony, Star Trek, and other fandoms, as well as ways to meet other fans!

Webcomics: From Creation to Marketing

Join popular webcomic creators Jake Richmond, Ben Hsu, Matthew Bogart and others as they explain the ins and outs of creating & maintaining a webcomic. Everything from initial creation process to getting people to read your comic will be covered. Bring your questions!

Panel to Panel with Hereville

3:00 - 4:00 pm

A super-fun, all-ages show about creating comics, including live drawing demos, audience participation, and an animated film! Presented by Barry Deutsch, author of Hereville.
