Meridian to Close Downtown During Weekend of Daffodil Parade

Meridian in downtown Puyallup will close for construction beginning April 12 at 5:30 p.m. and will re-open on the morning of April 15 at 7 a.m., affecting traffic for Saturday's Daffodil Parade.

If Saturday's 80th Annual Daffodil Parade will take you downtown this weekend, take special note that Meridian will be closed. 

Puyallup and BNSF Railway are working to rehabilitate three railroad crossings over the next few months, and road closures will be required to complete the construction.

The restoration project will begin with the crossing at Meridian on Friday, April 12. Meridian will be closed for construction to all vehicular traffic beginning April 12 at 5:30 p.m. and will re-open on the morning of April 15 at 7 a.m.

The Daffodil Parade hits downtown Puyallup at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 13.

Temporary pedestrian access will be provided during this period. Detour signs will be posted for motorists, and a detour map is available at www.cityofpuyallup.org.

The rehabilitation process will involve removal of the asphalt crossing approaches and replacing them with specialized concrete. This will provide a more durable crossing surface with better access for BNSF track maintenance. 

Future railroad crossing construction is tentatively scheduled for:

April 26th through April 28th: 2nd ST NE crossing

May 10 through May 12: 5th ST NW crossing
