As the Washington Department of Transportation (@WSDOT_Traffic) tweeted: "Modern art? No, errant paint can(s) on NB SR 167 before I-405."
And it appears that's just what happened shortly before 9:30 a.m. Wednesday on SR-167 near South 28th Place.
The Twitter conversation continued with re-Tweets of traffic puns, including this one from @TrafficDivas, "this wasn't a failed "comfort lane" painting job, or public art...looks like it fell off the back of a truck."
At one point the backup extended three miles, according to @WSDOT_Traffic. And as of nearly 11 a.m., the spill was still wreaking havoc on the heavily traveled 167.
Patch will update this article as the paint and nails are cleared from the scene.
