$1,000 Reward Offered in Puyallup Hit-and-Run Collision

Chloe Williams, 15, was hit by an unidentified vehicle while crossing West Stewart Avenue earlier this month.

Crime Stoppers of Tacoma/Pierce County is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and charges in the March 14 hit-and-run collision that left a 15-year-old pedestrian with serious injuries.

Chloe Williams of Puyallup was using a crosswalk in the 600 block of West Stewart Avenue at 7:30 p.m. on March 14 when she was hit by an unidentified white SUV that was traveling eastbound and sped away after the collision.

Chloe, a ninth-grader at Aylen Junior High, suffered a broken right femur and deep bruises and scrapes on her hands.

“Why would you think it’s OK to hit me like that and then take off?” she said to reporters in her room at Tacoma General Hospital earlier this month. “It’s frustrating to know that the person is out there, and they are still walking around fine and I’m [in the hospital].” A spokeswoman at Tacoma General said Thursday that Chloe has been transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

Police are looking for a large white SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe (see attached PDF and surveillance video). The vehicle may have front-end damage from the collision.
