UPDATE: Five Teens Involved in Rollover Crash on SR 167

An 18-year-old Puyallup girl and two other teenage girls were sent to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

At least three teens were sent to the hospital after a car, carrying five teenage girls, hit a telephone pole and rolled over in Waller, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The collision happened 2 miles south of Tacoma on State Route 167 at 50th Avenue East around 3:13 a.m.

The vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old Tacoma girl, was traveling north on SR 167 when it left the roadway to the right and struck a telephone pole and a fence. The car flipped over and came to a rest on its roof.

The driver and one of the passengers, an 18-year-old Puyallup girl, were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.

Another passenger, a 16-year-old girl from Gig Harbor, was sent to St. Joseph Medical Center.

Authorities did not specify if the other two passengers, a 16-year-old girl from Seattle and a 17-year-old girl from an unnamed city, were also injured.

WSP spokesman Guy Gill said everyone in the car were all wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, and the injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Officials are citing DUI and speeding as the cause of the crash.

No charges have been filed.

The Washington State Patrol responded to a single-car collision near Puyallup early Thursday morning.

According to the WSP spokesman Trooper Guy Gill, the vehicle ended up in the embankment on State Route 167 at 50th Avenue East around 3 a.m.

Authorities arrested the female driver for vehicular assault.

The passengers in the car had non-life threatening injuries. At least one person was transported to the hospital with a possible arm injury.

Gill said the driver and the passengers were all wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Officials believe the driver was operating the car under the influence. The case is still under investigation. Patch will have more information as it becomes available.
