Bicyclist Hit on State Route 7; Spanaway Man Charged With Hit and Run, Vehicular Assault

According to the Washington State Patrol, the 54-year-old driver from Spanaway drove off after he struck a bicyclist near 52nd Avenue East on State Route 7 Thursday night.

A 54-year-old Spanaway man has been charged with felony hit and run and vehicular assault after he struck a bicyclist and left the scene, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident happened in Spanaway on State Route 7 at 52nd Avenue East around 10:10 p.m. on Thursday.

The Spanaway man and the bicyclist, a 43-year-old Eatonville man, were both traveling northbound when the driver struck the bicyclist. The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital.

Authorities later found the Spanaway man and his pickup truck at a nearby address.

The driver did not sustain any injuries.
