Fire Leads Police to Marijuana Grow Operation in Puyallup Home

A grow home for marijuana was found on the 800 block of 5th Street Southeast after a fire started inside. Central Pierce crews contained the blaze and Puyallup Police are investigating the plants grown inside.

Authorities responded to a house fire Wednesday morning and ended up finding a marijuana grow operation, according to Puyallup Police spokesman Capt. Scott Engle.

At 8:06 a.m., Central Pierce Fire and Rescue, along with Puyallup Police officers, were dispatched to a house fire in the 800 block of 5th Street Southeast in Puyallup.

Upon arrival officers located a renter of the home who reported an electrical problem in the house.

Firefighters entered the home and extinguished the fire. While in the home, firefighters discovered a marijuana grow operation.

Detectives from the Puyallup Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.

Engle said evidence of a marijuana grow operation was seized from the home. A report will be submitted to the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office for further review and consideration of possible criminal charges.

Two neighboring homes were also evacuated during the fire.

What is wrong with people? This growing operation is right across from a elementary school and church, and down the street from a junior high. Stop smoking your pot and use your brain for once.
