Puyallup's Heritage Bank Robbed by Man in Ski Mask

A white man wearing a ski mask robbed the downtown Puyallup Heritage Bank Friday afternoon and warned tellers he was wearing an explosive device.

Heritage Bank on S. Meridian Street was robbed Friday around 5 p.m., according to the Puyallup Police Department.

A white male wearing a ski mask entered the bank and demanded money from one of two tellers in the bank. He said he had an explosive device and then fled the bank after receiving an unknown sum of money.

The suspect was observed fleeing the scene southbound on S. Meridian on a bicycle, according to eyewitnesses. Officers cordoned off the bank due to the alleged explosive device. A Pierce County Sheriff’s Department explosives K-9 responded to the bank to check the item left behind. No explosive device was found at the bank.

There were no customers in the bank at the time of the robbery. The Puyallup Police Department Special Investigations Unit as well as the Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene.
