Kalles Junior High Placed on Lockdown After Person With Weapon Reported

Puyallup Police have cleared the area around the school and called off the lockdown.

Kalles Junior High School in Puyallup was put on temporary lockdown Friday morning after officials received a report of a person with a weapon near the school.

Puyallup Police posted the incident on its Twitter page around 10:30 a.m.

Puyallup Police Capt. Scott Engle told Patch that one 9-11 call came in regarding the suspicious individual and officers spent time in the neighborhood and investigated the scene but did not find anyone matching that description.

One person was taken into custody for prowl charges in another incident happening nearby, Engle said.Β 

It's possible that the 9-11 call was a ruse for other illegal activity happening nearby.

"We have a strong suspicion that person was involved," said Engle. "And that the suspect might have wanted to draw us away from that area."
