Man Arrested for Attempting to Rob Check Cashing Business on South Meridian
Puyallup Police report a man was arrested this morning after he attempted to hold up a check cashing business on South Meridian.
Around 11:25 a.m. this morning, an armed man attempted to rob a check chashing business on the 12800 block of South Meridian Ave., according to Puyallup Police.
At the store, the suspect displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded cash from the clerk. The 30-year-old female victim was protected by bullet resistant glass and refused to give cash to the man. The suspect fled on a bicycle.Β The victim was not injured.
Puyallup Police Officers and Detectives responded to the area. A Puyallup Police traffic officer observed a subject matching the suspect description in the 12300 block of Meridian E. Officers detained the suspect and the victim positively identified the 35-year-old Pierce County man as the suspect who attempted to rob the business.

Puyallup Major Crimes Unit and a translator from the Fife Police Department responded to conduct the investigation. The suspect admitted to attempting to rob the business with a simulated weapon. An evidence search the area was conducted by officers and police K-9 but, did not yield a firearm.
The suspect was booked into the Pierce County Jail for attempted robbery.
