Woman Armed With Handgun Arrested Outside Shaw Road Residence

The Puyallup Police Department received a report of a weapons incident in the 1600 block of 28th Street Southeast around 3:24 p.m. on Tuesday. 

According to police, a neighbor reported that someone had shot out a window in his residence. When the neighbor went out to investigate, he located a female outside his home. The female was armed with a handgun.    

Prior to officer’s arrival, the female returned to her residence. Officers set up a perimeter around the home and attempted to contact the woman.

The female’s residence was located near Shaw Road. Due to the heavy commuter traffic on Shaw Road, officers briefly closed the road to all traffic.

Officers were eventually able to make contact with the 53-year-old female subject by phone. She exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was subsequently arrested and will be booked into the Pierce County Jail for first-degree assault.

The Puyallup Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident in an effort to confirm that a shot was fired and if additional charges are warranted. 

Neither the neighbor nor the suspect sustained any injuries during the incident.

Puyallup Police say there is some type of weapons incident happening in a home on Shaw Road and 16th Avenue SE near the Deer Creek subdivision.

Neighbors reported that a man was displaying a weapon. Since the home is close to Shaw Road commuters, police have closed down Shaw Road between 15th Avenue SE and 23rd Avenue SE. 

The Police sergeant said police were just arriving on the scene and further information is unavailable.
