Puyallup Blotter: American Flag Stolen from Front Porch, DUI Collision

The following arrest information has been supplied by the Puyallup Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

APRIL 9, 2013

Vehicle Theft: A 53-foot semi trailer was stolen from O’Reilly’s Distribution Center.

Vehicle Prowl: A car was prowled on 28th Pl. SE and miscellaneous gun cleaning equipment was stolen. The victim contacted Sportsman Warehouse and warned that someone may fraudulently try and return the items. The suspect did attempt to return the items for a gift card. The Spanaway man was arrested in the parking lot.

Car theft: A red, 1985 Toyota 4Runner was stolen from the Sears parking lot.

Vehicle Prowl: A kindle was stolen from an unlocked car on 39th Ave. SW.

APRIL 15, 2013

False Information, Warrant Arrest: Officers responded to a residence on 37th Ave. SE after a man there called 911 and claimed he was assaulted. Laughing could be heard in the background and then the call disconnected. Nobody at the home would admit to the call, but one individual lied about his name. He was found to have multiple warrants out for his arrest, including assault against a police officer.

Shoplifting, False Info: Two men were arrested for fleeing Walmart with a loaded shopping cart on 31st Ave. SE. There was evidence to connect them to multiple thefts at the store. One suspect came down with a heart condition upon arrest and had to be transported to the hospital; he initially gave police a false name but his true identity was discovered while receiving medical care. He had a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender and an additional misdemeanor warrant.

Harassment: Patrons of Lee’s Martial Arts Studio have reported harassment by a group of teenagers in the residential unit above the studio. Disparaging remarks and threats with an air-soft gun have been reported. In turn, the teen’s parents are challenging that the owner of the studio was ‘verbally challenging.’ A report has been sent to the prosecutor’s office for possible charges on either side.

Vehicle Theft: A 1995 Econoline van was stolen from outside a residence on 11th St. NW. It was later found abandoned in the 11900 block of South Prairie Road with the ignition punched.

Theft of Flag: A flag was stolen from the front porch of a home on West Pioneer, plus the top half of the flag pole. The flag had been flown over the victim’s grandson’s military base and has obvious sentimental value.

APRIL 16, 2013

Assault: A man scratched his wife during an argument and was booked on assault.

Trespass, Warrant: A man was arrested for trespassing at a vacant house on 4th St. NE. He also had warrants out for his arrest.

DUI Collision: A driver who rear ended a vehicle on the 4400 block of South Meridian hit the victim car again as both vehicles pulled into the center turn lane to stop. The man smelled of intoxicants but said he “fell asleep” and drank the previous night. He was arrested and found to be intoxicated, and had warrants out for his arrest.

Residential Burglary: Suspect(s) entered a home for sale on 20th St. SW and stole an empty refrigerator.

Protection Order Violation, Warrants: An officer pulled over a vehicle for failing to turn while pulling into a gas station on South Meridian. The driver didn’t have a valid drivers license and had two outstanding warrants. In addition, there was a protection order against his girlfriend, who was riding in the car with him.

Copper Theft: The foreman on a home construction site on 35th Pl. SE reported that over $100 in copper wire was stolen from the home. It’s an ongoing issue in this development area.

Assault, Malicious Mischief: A woman and her husband of 10 years got in an argument and she allegedly punched him in the sides and stomach and struck him in the face several times, while egged on by her husband who wanted a divorce. She admitted to hitting him and keying his vehicle, parked outside the residence.

APRIL 17, 2013

Forgery: A man attempted to cash a counterfeit money order at Lowe’s; he fled the scene but was located and arrested.

Malicious Mischief: A car window was smashed while parked at the trailhead of 2nd Ave. NE. Nothing was stolen.

Theft from Vehicle: A spare tire was stolen from the back of a Jeep Wrangler parked at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Theft from Vehicle: A spare tire was stolen off a Jeep Wrangler parked at Pierce College.

Malicious Mischief: A car windshield was smashed on Mt. McKinley Court, parked outside a residence.

Burglary: The front glass door of Pepper’s Hair Design was smashed in and a cash drawer with a small amount of change was stolen.

Malicious Mischief: A man got in an argument with his girlfriend at the Best Western and kicked the rear hatch of her vehicle several times, causing over $2,000 in damage. He fled the scene but was later arrested.
