Aylen Junior High Placed on Temporary Lockdown While Puyallup K-9 Search for Burglary Suspect

Puyallup Police officers spotted two suspects breaking into a home on West Pioneer and the K-9 unit was called out to track the suspects. Aylen Jr. High was placed on temporary lockdown during the investigation; the second suspect was not found.

Students ready to head home from Aylen Junior High School were detained for a little while Friday afternoon while Puyallup Police investigated a nearby residential burglary.

Just before 2 p.m. a Puyallup Police officer spotted two suspicious males and vehicle on the 1700 block of West Pioneer in Puyallup. He called for backup and while the officers were checking on the house, they witnessed the suspects attempting to break in, according to a press release from the Puyallup Police Department.

The two male suspects fled on foot and the pursuit began. A 38-year-old male was taken into custody at the victim house.

A Puyallup K-9 response team did a tracking search for the other suspect and Aylen Jr. High was placed under a temporary lockdown until police were able to conclude their investigation. While K-9 searched the area for an extended length of time, the second suspect was not found.

The man arrested in this incident will be charged with attempted residential burglary and possession of burglary tools. The case has been forwarded to the Special Investigations Unit.
