Puyallup Police Blotter: Drugs Found in Car on River Road, Shoplifting at Macy's and More

The following arrest information has been supplied by the Puyallup Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

OCT. 19, 2012

DUI: A man was arrested for DUI after he nearly collided with a Puyallup Police vehicle. He admitted to drinking at Bumpy’s and had a BAC almost double the legal limit.

Shoplifting: Two individuals were arrested after they were caught stealing breakfast items from Walmart.

DUI, Suspended License: A man was stopped for speeding on the 1700 block of E. Main and was found to be impaired. He had been drinking at Cheers and was over double the legal limit.

Recovered Property: An iPhone reported stolen from Daffodil Bowl was turned in to a Lynnwood Apple Store.

MIP: A verbal dispute at a home on 26th Ave. SW resulted in a juvenile arrested for being intoxicated.

Theft: A man parked his vehicle in front of Ace Pawn and Loan and, while he was inside the store, unknown suspects allegedly entered his car through a partially open window. Prescription pain medications were stolen from a fanny pack left on the front seat.

Theft: A man shoved a woman from behind in the Walmart Garden Center and stole her purse from her hand. He was described as white, in his 20s and well-dressed. He left the area on foot.

Domestic Violence: A man was witnessed assaulting his girlfriend outside their apartment on Valley Ave. NE. They fled the area before police arrived.

Driving with Suspended License: A 15-year-old boy was pulled over for driving with no headlights. When he was told why he was stopped, he couldn’t find the headlamp switch. It turns out he took his mother’s vehicle without her permission and didn’t have a valid license. He was released to his mother.

DUI: A man drove his car into a ditch on the 3000 block of 17t St. SW. He was found to be impaired and was in possession of marijuana. He was arrested for DUI.

OCT. 21, 2012

Possession of Cocaine, Marijuana: A driver was stopped on River Road for a tail light violation and the officer smelled marijuana inside the vehicle. The man denied there were drugs inside and granted consent to search. The officer found a gram of cocaine and a large amount of marijuana, along with narcotic pills. The driver also had a suspended license and was booked at Pierce County Jail.

Car Prowl: An unknown suspect punched a door lock on a vehicle parked at the Holiday Inn Express and stole sunglasses, an emergency kit and police radar detector.

OCT. 22, 2012

Burglary: A foreclosed home on 41st St. SE was burglarized. A side-by-side refrigerator and some planters were stolen. 

Warrant arrest: A woman called police to report her son was wanted for a felony warrant and that he was sleeping at her apartment. He was arrested.

Strong Arm Robbery: A man was arrested for attempting to rob a check cashing business on S. Meridian. Turns out the “gun” was fashioned out of cardboard. Read more.

DV Assault, Trespassing: A woman arrived at her adult daughter’s home to drop off some clothing for her grandson when a fight erupted over her parenting. The woman punched her adult daughter in the face then fled, but was eventually arrested in her Bonney Lake home and booked in Puyallup Jail.

Marijuana Possession: A driver was stopped after making an illegal turn and the officer smelled marijuana. The driver handed over a smoking pipe and a large amount of marijuana. He was arrested for possession.

Shoplifting: A woman attempted to steal a coat, valued at $250, from Macy’s after purchasing a pair of shoes. She fled the area but is described as a black female between 35-40 years old, about 5 feet, 7 inches and approximately 150 pounds. 

DUI: A man was stopped for improper lane use after he merged onto 31st Ave. SW from an off-ramp and cut off a police SUV, nearly causing a collision. He denied drinking but showed signs of impairment and failed a sobriety test. He was arrested for DUI.
