Puyallup Police Blotter: Cops Arrest Naked Man for Trespass and More

The following crime information has been supplied by the Puyallup Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

DUI/DWLS: On March 28, police arrested a 30-year-old man in the 1000 block of East Main Avenue for DUI. He also said he used marijuana earlier that night. He was also cited for second-degree DWLS.

DUI: On March 28, police arrested a 42-year-old woman in the 500 block of 39th Avenue Southwest for DUI. She also admitted to taking prescription medication that night.

Shoplift/Assault: On March 29, Top Foods employees observed two men concealing candy bars and food and leaving the store without paying. One of the men fled northbound and entered WalMart. The second man punched the clerk in the head and fled southbound.

Residential Burglary: On March 29, an unknown person(s) shattered the window next to the front door of a home in the 700 block of 16th Street Southwest and stole several items including medication, costume jewelry, cell phones, electronics and an electric guitar.

DUI: On March 29, police arrested a 25-year-old man in the 700 block of 3rd Street Southeast for DUI.

DUI: On March 29, police arrested a 29-year-old man in the 1900 block of East Main Avenue for DUI.

Felony Harassment/Malicious Mischief: On March 29, a 23-year-old man in Puyallup Jail reportedly made numerous derogatory and threatening remarks. He also said he wanted to go to Pierce County Jail instead. In addition, the man smeared feces into the cracks of the wall and over the cell camera and lens. The cell had to be taken out of service and decontaminated. Felony harassment and second-degree malicious mischief charges have been added to his case.

Shoplift/Warrant Arrest: On March 29, two men, 23 and 25 years old, were arrested after trying to steal alcohol and steak from Safeway. The 23-year-old man was also arrested on an outstanding third-degree theft warrant.

DUI: On March 29, police arrested a 21-year-old man in the 1300 block of East Main Avenue for DUI.

DUI: On March 29, police arrested a 23-year-old man for DUI. Police said the man was acting belligerently while trying to order drive-thru at McDonalds on 2nd Street Northeast.

Shoplift/Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance: On March 30, police arrested a woman for shoplifting and unlawful possession of controlled substance at WalMart. Police also found meth on the woman.

Theft From Vehicle: Sometime over the weekend, an unknown person(s) cut the fence at a business in the 130 block of 15th Street Southeast. Three of the business’ vehicles were prowled.

Shoplift/Minor in Possession: On March 30, police arrested an 18-year-old man for shoplifting after he tried to steal a backpack full of liquor from Top Foods. Police also arrested three other juvenile accomplices.

DUI: On March 30, police arrested a 26-year-old woman for DUI after she backed into traffic in the 200 block of North Meridian.

DUI: On March 30, police arrested a 49-year-old woman in the 1200 block of East Pioneer for DUI.

Motor Vehicle Theft Recovery: On March 30, police recovered a 1987 Honda Accord in the 2300 block of 31st Avenue Southeast that had been stolen from Pierce County.

Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance: On March 30, police arrested a 31-year-old man for unlawful possession of controlled substance. The man was trying to shoot up drugs in his vehicle, according to police. Officers found both methamphetamine and heroin on the man.

DUI: On March 31, police arrested a 61-year-old woman for DUI after she drove her car into a ditch in the 2800 block of East Pioneer.

DUI: On March 31, police arrested a 27-year-old woman for DUI in the 300 block of 43rd Avenue Southeast.

Trespass/Resisting Arrest: On March 31, police received a call in reference to a burglary in progress. The caller reported that a naked man was trying to get inside the home in the 1200 block of West Pioneer by tearing down exterior blinds on a set of backyard French doors. The homeowner was reportedly armed. Officers soon arrived and found the 27-year-old Tacoma man in the back yard of the house. Police said he resisted arrest and had to be subdued by a series of Taser. Police believe the man had used bath salts prior to the incident.

Weapons Discharge: On March 31, a 28-year-old man said he had forgotten that he had reloaded his Glock 9mm while he was dry firing. He discharged one round that went through his bedroom wall at the Meridian West Apartments. The bullet continued to travel through the exterior wall and out of his apartment. It then went toward the playground where many kids were still playing outside. After investigating, no injuries were reported. The bullet was never located. 

Runaway: On April 1, a 13-year-old boy ran away from his home in the 1700 block of 5th Street Southeast after being displeased with his Easter basket. According to records, he runs away frequently and always returns within a day or two.

Theft/Obstructing: On April 1, police arrested a man after he stole his “baby mama’s” phone and made his getaway via bicycle with an expandable baton. He was located on the Rivewalk where he pulled out the baton and refused commands. He eventually threw the baton and phone into the river.

Attempt Motor Vehicle Theft: Sometime overnight on April 3, an unknown person(s) attempted to steal a 1996 Ford Ranger from the B&B lot. Both door locks were punched and there was extensive damage to the ignition.

Burglary: On April 4, a thief stole two digital cameras, video camera and Wii from a home in the 900 block of 21st Street Southeast.
