Puyallup Police: Drunk Found Napping in Pioneer Park Flower Bed, Antique Barber Pole Stolen

MAY 3, 2013

Shoplift: A 16 year-old boy was caught stealing liquor from Top Foods. He also took his grandmother’s car to the store without her permission.

Shoplift: A 14 year-old boy was arrested for stealing two bottles of cough syrup from Top Foods, stating he wanted to drink them to get high.

Vehicle Recovery: Issaquah PD reported that a Honda motorcycle stolen from the Chestnut Hills neighborhood was recovered when the person riding it was shot by a homeowner during an attempted burglary. The suspect was transported to the hospital.

Communications with a Minor for Immoral Purposes: An investigation revealed a 30 year-old female on Tacoma Road was having an inappropriate relationship with her daughter’s 14 year-old ex boyfriend and had been texting him.

Assault with a Firearm: A man confronted his roommate’s teenage daughter and her friends at the front door with a handgun. He fired a round into the concrete at the teen’s feet before pointing it at her head. He barricaded himself inside his home on 26th Ave. SE, but was arrested.

Alcohol in the Park: A man was arrested for being passed out in a flower bed in Pioneer Park with an open can of beer in his hand. He had to be roused from his nap by police while bystanders snapped photos of him.

MAY 5, 2013

Car Theft: A silver 1999 Honda Civic was stolen from outside a residence on 5th Ave. NE. The victim stated that the front bumper is heavily damaged and being held together with zebra-print duct tape.

Vehicle Prowls: Four vehicles were broken into overnight at the Orion Townhomes on Valley Ave. NE.

Theft of Cannon: Someone stole a three-foot long brass cannon fron a front yard on 27th St. Pl. SE. The cannon is capable of firing golf ball-sized projectiles.

Damaged Property: An intoxicated male wearing a black oversized hoodie was witnessed picking up a large planting box and smashing it to the ground into several pieces in the front of the Puyallup/Sumner Chamber of Commerce. When confronted, he said someone threatened his girlfriend and he was going to “kill someone.” He fled the scene.

Vehicle Prowl: A city attorney from Tacoma reported that his vehicle window was shattered while parked outside the Iron Chef restaurant, and a briefcase containing confidential documents were stolen, in addition to his Pierce County courthouse official badge.

Involuntary Commit: The foster parents of a 14-year-old boy called police to report the boy was suicidal and attempted to harm himself by drinking bleach. He was upset over a fight with a classmate at school. He refused to cooperate so he was involuntarily committed.

MAY 7, 2013

Weapons Incident: A Shaw Road resident forced her way into her neighbor’s home and threatened the residents inside with a gun. See more on Patch.

Malicious Mischief: Unknown people spray painted “Bank of America has no authority,” “Resist Corruption” and other political messages on the Bank of America building on W. Meeker. They also put glue in the card reader at the ATM. A similar incident occurred at an ATM in Tacoma.

Felony Threats: A 19 year-old was arrested after he became unruly and refused to leave Sparks Stadium. He punched a wall on the way out the door and threatened to kill everyone in the classroom.

MAY 8, 2013

Extra Patrols: Neighbors in Sunset Gardens requested extra patrols around their neighborhood because of miscellaneous damage and juvenile loitering.

Retail Organized Theft: A man was detained by Walmart Loss Prevention after he was found to have stolen items on his person and tin foil lining the front of his pants to help bypass the alarm.

Malicious Mischief: Sometime over the weekend, unknown people damaged the elevator at City Hall. The suspects were able to pry the doors open and break a wire that disabled the elevator. A fire extinguisher was also damaged. 

MAY 9, 2013

Burglary: The store alarm at Macy’s was tripped after hours. Police arrived to find the doors pried open and several iPods and iPads were stolen from a kiosk. The video shows the suspect breaking into the kiosk while the janitor was still inside the mall, waxing the floor.

Warrant Arrest: An officer following up on an arrest bulletin located a wanted suspect in a residence. He was found hiding in the bathtub. He was arrested on five outstanding warrants.

Theft: Sometime overnight, unknown suspects stole the antique barber pole from outside the Mirror Barber on Meeker Street.

Theft of Heat Pumps: 10 heat pumps were stolen from behind the victim’s two office buildings. Estimated loss is $50,000.

Vehicle Theft: A 1998 Honda Civic was stolen from the downtown Sounder Park and Ride.
