Puyallup Police Reports: Apartment Complex Standoff Leads to Arrest of Armed Suspect, Trailer Park Fight and More

The following crime and arrest information has been supplied by the Puyallup Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

DEC. 23, 2012

Assault, Malicious Mischief: A man was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife at their apartment on E. Main, who left with her baby. He then pointed a rife at a neighbor and threatened to kill him, or himself if police were called. Surrounding apartments were evacuated and the suspect was contacted after he came out on his back deck unarmed. Forced entry had to be made into his apartment and he was taken into police custody.

Assault: During an argument, a man grabbed his roommate by the jacket, pushed him around and destroyed the zipper.

Drug Possession: Two people were caught sleeping in Pioneer Park after hours. They were both very intoxicated and had been banned from the Freezing Nights program. One of the individuals had a large quantity of methamphetamine, which he referred to as his “medicine."

Weapons Violation: Witnesses reported a man staggering around S. Meridian. He was extremely intoxicated and covered in vomit. A loaded gun and large hunting knife were found on his person. He had an expired concealed weapons permit and was booked for a weapons violation.

Burglary: Several leather chairs were stolen from a fenced area behind Furniture Plus. 

Assault: There was a large trailer park fight on the 200 block of 27th Ave. SE. Police don’t know what started it but several residents were involved. Two were cited.

DEC. 26, 2012

DUI: A female driver collided with another vehicle on S. Meridian and drove off. Witnesses followed her and she was later arrested for DUI and hit and run. She was extremely intoxicated and was found the be three times over the legal limit.

DUI: A female driver was stopped for lane travel and speeding. She was found to be impaired and was in possession of prescription pain killers belonging to her dead grandmother.

DEC. 27, 2012

DUI: A man was arrested for DUI after purchasing alcohol at the Chevron on Valley after being refused service at the Shell station and driving through the parking lot. He was booked for DUI.

Resisiting Arrest: A man who appeared to be homeless was asked to leave Shari’s Restaurant multiple times by employees and refused. Police arrived and a struggle ensued, until he was taken into custody.

DUI: A driver was pulled over for driving the wrong way on S. Meridian. There was a strong odor of marijuana in the car and the driver admitted to smoking at home. He was arrested for DUI-drugs and a blood draw was completed.

DUI: A woman was stopped for speeding and was booked for DUI.

Attempted Vehicle Prowl: Two individuals were witnessed trying door handles on vehicles in the Hampton apartment complex. When officers arrived, the man took off on foot but only made it to the fence line before he was taken into custody. He had a $15,000 warrant from Pierce County and had several burglary tools in his possession, including ‘jiggle keys.’ He told police he was only looking for water in the apartment complex.
