Puyallup Police Reports: Man Robs 7-11 At Knifepoint in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Pajamas, Assault with Fried Chicken

The following arrest and crime information has been supplied by the Puyallup Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

DEC. 28, 2012

Accidental Shooting: A man accidently shot himself in the wrist while cleaning his gun. 

DUI: A man was stopped for speeding on W. Pioneer and found to be intoxicated. He was arrested for DUI.

Vehicle Prowl: A vehicle was prowled on 9th St. SW and a collectible GI Joe doll was stolen from the trunk.

DUI: A man was arrested for DUI after he was found driving the wrong way on the E. Pioneer bypass. He was found to be impaired, almost double the legal limit.

DUI: A woman was arrested for DUI for driving the wrong way on the E. Pioneer bypass.

DUI: A driver struck another car parked in the Loose Wheel Bar and Grill restaurant. He was found to be over double the legal limit. 

DEC. 30, 2012

Aggravated Assault: A woman reported being “attacked” somewhere on Meridian, between 7-11 at 31st, sometime between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. She said she was hit over the head by an unknown man with a 9mm gun and had a large cut across her eye. Both the victim and her husband were intoxicated to go look for the suspect.

Commercial Burglary: The front door of two offices on 39th Ave SW were smashed in and approximately $4 in change was stolen from one business, nothing from the other. 

DEC. 31, 2012

Car Prowl, Gas Theft: A car was prowled while parked on Tacoma Road and some gas was stolen from the vehicle.

Theft: Someone stole chain link fencing stored on the property of the 512 Court Apartments, as well as 20 fence posts.

Theft of Vehicle Part: A catalytic converter was stolen from a truck parked on 2nd Ave. NE.

Attempted Metal Theft: An employee at a business on N. Levee Road walked outside to find a subject cutting into a steel beam with a blow torch that was stored behind the business. The suspect fled in a blue, two-toned pick up truck.

DUI: A woman was arrested for DUI on 4th St. NW after she was pulled over for drifting into the other lane.

DUI: A man was stopped for driving recklessly on N. Meridian and was found to be impaired. He told police he was angry that the McDonald’s drive thru was so busy so he was driving recklessly to get to Jack In The Box.

DUI: A man was arrested for marijuana DUI after he was pulled over for lane travel on Shaw Road.

JAN. 1, 2013

Vehicle Theft: A car was stolen from the South Hill Mall parking lot, near the Cinemas.

Vehicle Theft: A car was stolen while parked outside the Puyallup Animal Hospital. 

Vehicle Theft: A vehicle parked in front of a residence on 18th St. NW was stolen.

Malicious Mischief: An inmate at Puyallup Jail became agitated on the phone and slammed down on the receiver until he broke it. This upset his cellmate, and a fight ensued. The man was charged with malicious mischief in addition to the charges he was in custody for.

Heroin: A man was being treated in the emergency room following a car crash when nurses discovered several grams of heroin on his person. He denied ownership, claiming the drugs were “coffee grounds.”

JAN. 3, 2013

Residential Burglary: Someone entered an unlocked window at the Meeker House Apartments and stole a laptop.

Shoplifting: A man was observed cutting open merchandise packing at Walmart. He was in possession of heroin and arrested for an outstanding warrant for solicitation.

Malicious Mischief: The tires of a car owned by 9-11 Driving School were slashed.

Warrant Arrest, Narcotics: A witness reported seeing two people smoking something off tinfoil inside a vehicle. Officers arrested one of the men for outstanding warrants.

Residential Burglary: A black and gold Giant mountain bike was stolen from a residence on 5th Ave. NW.

JAN. 4, 2013

Theft: A pink Canon digital camera was stolen in the Puyallup Library after it was left near a display case.

Obstructing: An officer stopped a driver for equipment violations and the man was instructed not to drive. Shortly thereafter, the man was seen driving out of the parking lot and was stopped again. He tried to switch spots with his passenger and had to be taken to the ground after resisting arrest. His passenger was also arrested for resisting arrest.

JAN. 5, 2013

Eluding, K9 Capture: An officer attempted to pull over a speeding car near Mama Stortini’s, and the suspect stopped then fled again. This lasted only one minute before the man lost control attempting to get on the freeway in Sumner and sent his car into the bushes. Two passengers were detained in the car. K-9 units tracked the man to an unlocked, detached garage on Harrison St. in Sumner. He had a suspended drivers license and had been arrested for DUI. He was also found to be intoxicated and cited with DUI.

Armed Robbery: A man dressed in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pajamas robbed a clerk at knifepoint at the 7-11 on S. Meridian. He jumped on the counter and demanded cash. He ran away; K-9 units were out within minutes but unsuccessful at finding him. The clerk was uninjured.

DUI: A woman was arrested for DUI on W. Meeker.

Shoplifting: A 17-year-old attempted to steal a cart full of merchandise from Walmart with his girlfriend.

JAN. 6, 2013

Theft: A wallet was stolen at Anthem Coffee.

Shoplifting, Possession: A woman was arrested for stealing merchandise at Macy’s. She was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Domestic Assault: A divorcing couple still living together with their new boyfriend and girlfriend got into an argument over living arrangements for their children. During the argument, the woman’s new boyfriend threw her husband on the floor, causing injury to his neck.

Disorderly Conduct: A man walked into a business on S. Meridian and threatened to assault somebody. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital but walked out before his evaluation, saying he was going to assault the clerk at Ampm for more alcohol. Officers arrived to find him sitting in the middle of the street on S. Meridian. He was booked for disorderly conduct.

Shoplifting , Trespassing: A man was arrested for shoplifting after he attempted to steal a bottle of vodka from Walmart. He had already been trespassed from all Walmart stores and had other shoplifting warrants.

JAN. 7, 2013

Bomb Threat: Puyallup Police responded to a bomb threat at the local Department of Corrections office. No devices were located, suspect unknown.

DUI: A witness called police after seeing a man crash on his motorcycle on E. Main Ave. He was arrested for DUI and his BAC was found to be triple the legal limit.

Assault: A man was hospitalized after his friend smashed a lamp over his hand. The victim sustained two severed tendons in his hand and required surgery, but was too intoxicated to give coherent details about the whereabouts of his friend.

Domestic Violence: A man was arrested for domestic violence assault after he struck his wife in the face with a piece of fried chicken from across the kitchen. The two were arguing over an impending divorce; the man was very intoxicated.  

Residential Burglary: A resident on 4th Ave. SE reported that someone broke into his apartment and stole an Xbox, TV and video games.

Domestic Assault: A woman was booked for domestic assault after she threw a cell phone at her roommate and kicked a hole in her bedroom door. She also punched and slapped her in the face. They were arguing over rent money.

Commercial Burglary: Computer equipment and checks were stolen from a realty company on 2nd St. NE.

Disorderly Conduct: A man was causing a disturbance at his father’s house on Alderbrook Ct. S. He was extremely intoxicated and found staggering in the middle of the street, blocking traffic.

JAN. 8, 2013

Recovered Vehicle: An officer ran the plates of a suspicious vehicle at the Southridge Apartments, which returned as stolen.

Malicious Mischief: Black paint was thrown across a shed on Rainier Blvd. There are no suspects at this time.

Motor Vehicle Theft: A car was stolen from outside a residence on 12th St. SE.

Motor Vehicle Theft, Recovery: A woman reported her car stolen from the Southridge Apartments and it was found shortly after by police in Auburn.

Illegal Camping: A woman was removed from Pioneer Park after attempting to camp in the park with a tent.

Assault of a Police Officer: A woman was contacted in Pioneer Park near the Ezra Meeker statue. She was ranting about ‘murder,’ the city council and passing citizens. She was intoxicated and had an open container near her. She had been previously trespassed from the park for an assault the month before. She resisted physical arrest and spat at an officer during the struggle. She made numerous threats against the officers and was booked at Pierce County Jail.

JAN. 9, 2013

Vehicle Prowl: A car was prowled on 29th Ave. Ct. SW and a catalytic converter was stolen.

Vehicle Prowl: A car was prowled on 12th Pl. SW and a catalytic converter was stolen.

Vehicle Prowl: A purse was stolen from a car parked outside the Competitive Edge.

Vehicle Prowl: A purse was stolen from a car parked outside the Le Petit Academy, while a mother was dropping off her child and left her vehicle unlocked.
