Puyallup Police Reports: Truck Driver Robbed by Suspect Wielding a Screwdriver, Child Luring and More

DEC. 11, 2012

Information: A man dressed as a bear threw a water bottle at his companion and almost hit a commuter at the downtown transit station, who called police.

Shoplifting: A woman was arrested for attempting to steal knives at Sportsmans Warehouse.

DEC. 18, 2012

Armed Robbery: A commercial driver reported that he was robbed in his truck while parked outside KFC. The suspect was armed with a rusty screwdriver and threatened the man for his wallet and pin number. The suspect tied up the driver in the car and stole a duffel bag and jacket from the car, but luckily didn’t take the bag with the man’s possessions inside. The suspect is described as Hispanic, between 25-35 years old, 5 foot 8 inches tall and about 180 pounds. He was wearing a tan coat and dark pants.

Theft from Vehicle: A Dodge truck parked on the Chevrolet dealership lot had its windows smashed in and the car stereo was stolen.

DEC. 19, 2012

Motor Vehicle Recovery: An impounded vehicle was found to have been stolen with switched plates.

Residential Burglary: A shed was broken into and entry was attempted at a home on 20th St. Pl. SE.

Residential Burglary: Coins and a set of binoculars were stolen from a residence on 14th St. SW.

Vehicle Prowl: Two purses were stolen from a car parked outside of Vision Qwest on S. Meridian.

DEC. 20, 2012

Narcotics Investigation: FedEx employees reported a suspicious package that reeked of marijuana. The case was forwarded to special investigations.

Shoplifting, MIP: Two teenagers were arrested for attempting to steal liquor from Safeway.

Assault: A young man attempted to purchase alcohol with his Mexico ID card. When he was refused service, he punched the clerk in the face and left the store without the liquor. The man is described as 19 years old, Hispanic, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 160 pounds.

Car Theft and Recovery: A resident at the Meridian West Apartments reported that his 1991 Honda Civic had been stolen, but that the car only runs a few miles before it dies. He went out and found his Honda abandoned on SR 512.

Theft: A resident on 23rd St. NW reported that UPS packages were stolen from his front porch.

DEC. 21, 2012

Child Luring: A white male, approximately 60 to 65 years old with white hair, offered an 8-year-old and an 11-year-old some candy from his grey van with tinted windows. The incident occurred on the 1100 block of 12th St. Ct. NW.

Vehicle Prowl: Two vehicle prowls occurred at a residence in the Riverside Apartments and also on S. Meridian.

Bank Robbery: Police are still searching for a suspected bank robber who held up Heritage Bank in downtown Puyallup. He indicated to the teller he was wearing an explosive device. If you recognize the man in the photo on this story, please call Puyallup Police at 253-770-3343.

DUI: A drunk driver was reported by a witness on SR 512 as being all over the roadway. He was arrested for DUI.

DUI: A driver was pulled over for driving the wrong way on E. Main. He was arrested for drunk driving.

Assault: A woman was cited with assault after she punched her step-father in the back after he asked her to clean her room.

DEC. 22, 2012

Theft: An unknown woman stole a UPS package from the porch of a residence on 6th St. SE that contained an $80 herb garden. Surveillance cameras captured her image—the suspect female is described as white, heavy-set and between the ages of 25-35. She was wearing dark-colored clothing and left in a maroon 1990s Chevy Trailblazer with unknown plates.

Assault, MIP: A man assaulted his fiancé and her brother. He was in a rage when police arrived and tried to fight his friend in front of the officers. All were underage and intoxicated and two were cited for outstanding warrants.

DUI: A man was pulled over on N. Meridian and was found to be under the influence. He was cited with DUI.

DUI: A drunk driver was arrested for DUI after he was seen trying to drive over a curb while turning on 15th St. SE.

Drug Possession: A patron at the Olive Garden reported that a man was injecting drugs in a car outside. Police searched him and found 15 grams of black tar heroin, almost $800 in cash and 7 needles inside the car. He was arrested and the car was impounded for further investigation.

DUI: A man was arrested for DUI after failing to signal on E. Pioneer.
