Traffic stops are apparently dangerous for the police too, and a Puyallup woman found that out the hard way.

It stated at 2 a.m. this morning at Pacific Avenue and Pattison Street in Olympia, where a Washington State Patrol trooper was making a traffic stop.

According to WSP, the trooper left his standard-issue patrol car and was ready to talk to the driver in front.

But just then, a car driven by a woman was headed right for the trooper. He jumped out of the way and was clipped by the car's mirror.

Ditching plans on the original stop, the trooper got in his vehicle and followed the car that hit him, which was driven by 28-year-old Rebecca Dressell of Puyallup. Her Nissan Altima was impounded, and charges against her are pending.
