Puyallup's New Crime Prevention Coordinator Ready to Educate

Lisa Isaacs, Puyallup Police's Crime Prevention Coordinator, is poised to educate the public on local policing, create block watches and help prevent crime through awareness in the community.

From the Puyallup Police Department:

Lisa Isaacs rejoins the Puyallup Police Department as their ‘new’ Crime Prevention Coordinator. She previously held a position as a Crime Prevention Specialist with Puyallup Police Department from 1999 – 2006 when she was recruited by the City of Tacoma as their Crime Free Programs Coordinator.

Isaacs is a member of the Problem Oriented Policing Unit, which addresses crime and disorder problems through targeted emphasis, community involvement and participation. She is working with community members through outreach and education by re-establishing the Block, Apartment and Business Watch Programs. Isaacs will be working with area businesses through quarterly Crime Control Roundtable meetings, neighborhoods through Block Watch and apartment managers with quarterly Managers’ Network meetings on ways to make their neighborhoods and businesses resistant to criminal activity.

She is available to do CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) or Safety Inspections of properties involved in the various Watch Programs. Additionally, Isaacs is available to make a variety of safety presentations to your community group on various topics aimed at keeping the citizens of Puyallup and their property safe.

She is also organizing and will be actively recruiting for the PPD’s upcoming Citizens’ Academy. This Academy is an opportunity for community members to learn about their Puyallup Police Department and the law enforcement process. The Puyallup Police Citizens’ Academy will be offered in the fall with more information to follow at a later date.

Isaacs has a degree in Criminal Justice with emphasis in Psychology and Sociology. She also holds a Certification in Basic and Advanced CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) from the American Crime Prevention Institute in Louisville, KY and completed 2nd Generation CPTED Training with the International CPTED Association. She has had extensive background in strategic leadership, community problem solving and group facilitation.
