Rowdy Patrons at Latino Rodeo Arrested for DUI, Assault

The Latino Rodeo hit Puyallup Sunday night and left several patrons hurting afterward, with fresh DUI and assault charges.

The Latino Rodeo at the Washington State Fairgrounds kept police busy Sunday night, with 5 DUI arrests and other citations for disorderly conduct and obstructing justice.

According to the Puyallup Police report, Jaripeo Baile Festival Familiar, hosted on June 30 by La Fortuna Entertainment Live, started to get unruly after 8 p.m. as patrons started to get drunk. Several police officers were supervising the event inside the fairgrounds but had to call on extra patrol officers to deal with situations outside.

Police broke up a fist fight outside the Golden Gate entrance, when two men were found punching each other in the middle of 9th Ave. SW. While one man was being arrested, his friend attempted to intervene. He was also placed under arrest for obstructing justice.

A 30 year-old woman who was being escorted out of the event punched one Puyallup PD officer in the face and kicked another in the shin with the point of her cowboy boot on the way to jail. She was booked on charges of assault.

Another 30 year-old woman who was kicked out of the event by the Liquor Control Board acted belligerent and refused to leave. She threatened to have the arresting officers fired, because of her job in a Thurston court.

Puyallup officers arrested five rodeo attendees for DUI--one driver was caught driving the wrong way down North Meridian. Another was called in by Jack in the Box employees, who said the man was so drunk that he spilled his food and drink order all over himself after receiving it in the drive-thru. He was arrested and booked for DUI.
