Trailer Burns to the Ground Under Suspicious Circumstances

A trailer on Fairview Drive burned to the ground Saturday, Puyallup Police report.

A trailer on Fairview Drive burned to the ground under suspicious circumstances on Saturday with no injuries or witnesses, according to the Puyallup Police Department.

Police officers and Central Pierce Fire and Rescue crews responded to a fully-engulfed fire at the trailer after the owner called 9-11.

The owner of the trailer changed his story several times about the fire, but claimed 5 people broke in and attempted to steal $550,000 from him. They would not leave, so he splashed rubbing alcohol at them and ignited it with a match.

A fire marshal and police investigation showed there was no evidence of foul play or witnesses, according to the report. Police believe that the owner of the trailer may not be in the right state of mind. This case has been forwarded to the Special Investigations Unit for followup.
