Tree Wipes Out Power Pole in Puyallup, Shaw Road Closed

High winds knocked a tree on to a power pole on the 1100 block of Shaw Road in Puyallup, causing power outages and road closures in the area.

UPDATE 5/13/13 8:13 a.m.

Shaw Road is still closed but should be open within an hour, according to Puyallup Police.

Shaw Road East is closed from Pioneer Way East to 15th Avenue SE while Puget Sound Energy and Puyallup Public Works crews attempt to restore power and remove a fallen tree. There is no estimated time of when the roads will be open or power restored, according to Puyallup Police. 

PSE has shut off power while they clear the downed power lines, PPD said.

The fallen tree caused some headaches to Shaw Road Elementary families this afternoon, as the road was blocked south of the school. 

If you're stuck in traffic, PPD advises to use Pioneer, 25th St SE and 12th Avenue to bypass the closure.
