Woman Hit by Sounder Train, Dies in Puyallup

A woman was walking north at 15th Street Southeast and East Pioneer Avenue when she was struck by a Sounder train on Wednesday. Her identity remains unknown.

A woman was killed by a Sound Transit train Wednesday evening in Puyallup, according to the Puyallup Police Department.

Officers from the Puyallup Police Department and Central Pierce Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the train-pedestrian collision at 15th St. Southeast and E. Pioneer at 6:30 p.m.

Patch has confirmed that the woman is Jade Rae Williams.

She was struck in the crossing by a southbound Sound Transit train. Upon arrival, officers located the unknown female subject deceased at the scene.  

The Sound Transit train with approximately 250 passengers on board had stopped just south of the 15th Street Southeast crossing. The Puyallup Police Department Major Collision Response Team (MCRT) responded to the scene and is investigating the incident along with Sound Transit Police and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Police.

The preliminary investigation indicates the woman walked across the train tracks in front of the train and made no attempt to avoid the train.  All railroad crossing warning devices appear to have been in working order at the crossing.
