Joint Base Lewis-McChord Suspends Non-Essential Services
The military base will suspend all non-essential services during the government shutdown.
From Joint Base Lewis-McChord on Facebook:
Due to the government shutdown, non-essential services at Joint Base Lewis-McChord have been suspended. During this government-wide shutdown, the JBLM Facebook page will not be updated regularly. DoD has directed uniformed military personnel to report for duty, as scheduled. However, many on-base services except those exempted from shutdown to protect life/health/safety, will not be available until normal operations resume. We apologize for the inconvenience.
The agencies on JBLM are too numerous to provide a full, accurate list of which are affected by a government shutdown. It is recommended that anyone doing business with a particular JBLM agency call that agency first to ensure it is open prior to visiting the base.
*Funding of the installation newspaper, the Northwest Guardian, is not affected by the shutdown. For updates re: JBLM activities during the closure, please visit http://www.nwguardian.com/2013/10/01/16478/impacts-of-government-shutdown.html.
