Margie Silver Announces Bid for School Board Seat

Note: This press release is from Dr. Margie Silver, who is running for the Puyallup School Board, position 4. 

Margie Silver, former Puyallup School District employee and volunteer, announced that she will run for the Puyallup School Board. Dr. Silver will run for Position 4, which is the position previously held by Greg Heath, who has decided not to continue after 12 years of service.

Dr. Silver is currently employed as a neuroscientist from McCartney and Associates examining the effects of substances on learning and memory in children. In addition to having her doctorate in Neuroscience and being employed as the head of the Developmental Neuroscience Laboratory at Johnson and Johnson, Dr. Silver has taught anatomy and physiology at Triton College in River Grove, Illinois.

Dr. Silver has been employed by the Puyallup School District as a DIBELS evaluator (reading evaluator) and a Health Screener for a number of years.  These positions have allowed her to work in most all of the Puyallup schools.

Volunteering for the Puyallup School District for the past 12 years, Dr. Silver is currently on Emerald Ridge Site Council and has been for 3 years. She has been the Scholarship Chair for 5 years for either Ferrucci Jr High and/or Emerald Ridge High School. She has been an active member of Hunt, Wildwood, Ferrucci or Emerald Ridge PTA/ Booster Clubs for the past 12 years.

Dr. Silver and her husband Ross (who is a dentist for the Puyallup Native American Tribe) have lived in Puyallup for 12 years and have two Emerald Ridge graduates.  Their oldest, Maxwell is a Junior at Pacific Lutheran University studying geo science and Griffin, their youngest will be attending Western Washington University in the fall studying Environmental Studies and Creative Writing.
