Just days before the election, Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob McKenna met with supporters Sunday night outside his Pierce County election headquarters in Puyallup.
It was the final leg of his eight-day RV tour across Washington that kicked off in Bellevue and took McKenna to every corner of the state, from Aberdeen to Pullman. The tour ended Sunday in Puyallup at McKenna’s Pierce County election headquarters at Bill Riley’s real estate office on 38th Ave. SW.
About 150 supporters gathered outside the offices to hear McKenna speak about the importance of reaching out to independent voters in the final days leading up to the election and to celebrate the amount of support McKenna has received thus far, from county and state leader support to media endorsements.
“This campaign is really about Republicans, Democrats and independents coming together to do what’s right for Washington,” said McKenna. “The next 48 hours are crucial—not just for the outcome of this race, but for our entire state.”
McKenna praised the work of his volunteers, who have made over 1 million phone calls on his behalf and come from all walks of life—college students, retirees, war veterans, business owners and politicians.
“I support Rob McKenna because of his integrity – I think he's a real honorable person," said John McDaniel of University Place. "I've followed him since he was elected Attorney General and admire his clear message."
