What Would You Tell the City Council About Extending the Sex Offender Housing Ban in Puyallup?
The Puyallup City Council will accept public testimony on extending the sex offender housing moratorium during their regular meeting on Jan. 22.
At the next regular council meeting, the Puyallup City Council will hear public testimony on whether or not to extend the city-wide ban on sex offender housing within city limits.
The council placed a 6-month moratorium on halfway houses in August after plans for a boarding home for convicted sex offenders on Shaw Road outraged the community. A moratorium gives the council an opportunity to suspend any permit applications or approve any new business licenses related to halfway houses until a permanent resolution can be added to the city's bylaws.
The current moratorium expires next month.Β
