Puyallup residents must help decide the future of Proposition 1, which would increase the sales and use tax in the service area, which includes Puyallup. If approved, this proposition would authorize Pierce Transit to impose an additional three-tenths of one percent (0.3 percent) sales and use tax, for a total sales and use tax of nine-tenths of one percent (0.9 percent), to fund restoration and provision of services. This includes special event and commuter service, services for people with disabilities and capital improvements.

Statewide, voters will also select a new governor, and decide the fate of controversial measures on gay marriage and marijuana.
