Puyallup Drops Mukilteo in Girls Lacrosse Opener

Puyallup's Amelia Heckert and Megan McAllister each recorded three goals, while Heckert turned in four ground balls on defense.

Amelia Heckert and Megan McAllister scored three goals apiece as Puyallup went on to win its opening day lacrosse matchup against Mukilteo on Monday at Sunset Stadium in Sumner.

McAllister and Heckert also each recorded an assist in the win, while Heckert turned in four ground balls on defense.

Mukilteo, which draws students from Kamiak High School, was only able to manage two first-half goals and ended up trailing 5-2 at halftime.

Despite Mukilteo’s four-goal effort in the second half, Puyallup managed to score five more times to seal the victory.

Kennedy Newman, goalkeeper for the Mukilteo squad, recorded a game-high 11 saves on the day.

Melanie Rizzotti and Kammi Nigg each had two scores for Mukilteo.

Puyallup (1-0-0) next faces Kennedy (0-0-0) in a 4:30 p.m. start, Thursday, March 14, at Sunset Park in SeaTac. Mukilteo (Kamiak HS) (0-1-0) next faces Bellarmine Prep (0-0-0) in a 7:30 p.m. start, Thursday, March 14 at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo.
